Nitrogen Cycle

The Nitrogen Cycle

  1. Fish produce Ammonia (NH3  is Nitrogen + Hydrogen) from their gills, and poo and pee.
  2. Nitrosomonas bacteria breaks down the wastes from the fish, by converting Ammonia into Nitrites.
  3. Nitrites are then converted into Nitrates by Nitrobacter bacteria
  4. The plants absorb the nitrates as plant food
  5. The water is now clean and returned to the fish

The best graphic of the Nitrogen Cycle I have found is from
